my own. is an "elite" clique/web directory designed to group together designers, developers and the like who prefer to use their own photography, coding and skills to produce web pages. This means we don't rely on a dodgy Google image search to provide us with tasteless celebrity images for website templates stolen from other people.

Q. Why is elite in quotation marks?
A. Because I don't want our intentions misunderstood. I'm not suggesting that by being a member of this directory we think we're the bees knees and better than everyone else, I'm merely suggesting that our usage of original materials gives us a better social standing. I've no idea how, but go with me on it.

Q. What is wrong with using Google image search?
A. Nothing, if you use it to find images on a website that offers royalty free images or you then gain permission from the original photographer/artist to use the image. Just because you can locate an image on the Internet, doesn't mean it's yours to take.

Q. I use free stock photography, can I join?
A. Yes. Not everyone has access to a camera, and finding one for free isn't exactly easy. Providing you display full credit to the photographer/website as per the terms on the stock photo' website I will accept you.

Q. I use a website/wordpress template, can I join?
A. No. You can be the best designer on the planet and I won't accept you if you've currently got a free template up. I'd rather see a bad but original design than a free one.

Q. I have skins and only one is original, can I join?
A. Yes, providing that a) you offer full credit to the creator of any other templates, and b) the skin you have created is the first I see when I load your website (i.e. the default skin). If I can't easily see your original skin, you won't be accepted.

Q. Any other requirements to join?
A. Yes. Decent English (i.e. good spelling and grammar) skills.
